From Amazon:

Naomi has begun to believe that she isn’t meant to find love, but she might receive more than she has ever hoped for this Christmas.

Twenty-four-year-old Naomi King has all but given up on marriage and children. As Christmas approaches, Naomi is certain that her life will be spent as an old maid, helping with the family’s quilting business and taking care of her eight siblings. Then she meets Caleb, a young widower with a 7-year-old daughter, and her world is once again turned upside-down.

My thoughts:

While still trying to get over the pain of losing her mother, Susie and her Dat (Dad) travel to the quaint little town of Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania.  Intent on seeing family and taking some time to relax, Caleb is not ready for the matchmaking ideas his sister has planned for him.  After all, his fraa (wife) hasn’t been gone that long, and he’s definitely not looking for love.  Planning on traveling back to his home in Ohio after the holidays, he’s just looking for a nice little vacation for him and his daughter.

Naomi has been unlucky in love, or as her Maam (Mom) would say, she was a little too forward and brought it upon herself with her past beaus.  Content to live her life alone, Caleb and his 8 year old daughter are the last things she expects to walk in to her quilt booth that day at the farmer’s market.  Could Caleb and Susie really be what God has planned for her?  Not if Caleb’s schweschder (sister) has anything to say about it!

Naomi’s Gift is a sweet love story written by bestselling author, Amy Clipston.  Fans of Clipston’s Kauffman Amish Baker series will recognize many of the names mentioned in this novella.  While the book takes place among the same setting as the popular series, this book can be read as a standalone novella, and new readers will not be lost or feel as if they are missing a piece of the puzzle.

Clipston’s words freely flow across the pages, quickly drawing the reader in and giving them a taste of the simpler way of life.  A glossary located in the front of the book will keep new Amish Christian Fiction readers in the loop for the sparsely placed German words throughout the story.  Words full of imagery are another added bonus…readers can easily picture the buildings, the towns, and the people of Bird-in-Hand.  If you’re looking for a great Christmas novella to curl up next to the fireplace with, pick up a copy of Naomi’s Gift and be transported to a place that is untouched by time!

Interesting fact:

This novel has a few different covers.  The first one I posted is my favorite, I love the image of the horse drawn buggy being pulled through the snow.  To me, it's the perfect picture for a Christmas novel.

While this cover is not my favorite, I still like it.  The Amish are known for their giving or service oriented lifestyle, and that is what this cover portrays to me.
