Social Media Ramblings
Social Media. Most of us are on it...Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, the list goes on. It is often our first and last thought of the day.
Have you ever stopped and considered why we are so enamored with it? Don't get me wrong...it's a great way to connect with others, but it can also be detrimental to our health. Say what? Have I lost you yet? Please, continue reading...
In today's day and age, electronics are everywhere. Most make our lives easier, but at what cost? It's easy to get caught up in the comparison game...
No, my husband may not have gotten me flowers, or some expensive jewelry. He does help out with the taxi service for our children though, and he comes home to me every night, so l love him none the less.
And my kids? While they may not all be getting straight A's, or have made the varsity team, we are very proud of the young adults they are turning out to be.
pshh...evening meals? Yes, they have all been in the crock-pot lately, with even some take-out mixed in between. No, I did not cook a 5 star meal tonight, but my family will not go hungry.
And your potty training your child? How exciting...while that is a big accomplishment for the both of you, do we really need to know what junior just deposited?
And then there is the ever "hush hush" of the internet. It is so easy to secretly chat, or meet up with someone other than your spouse...but you're only chatting, so it's not really cheating, right?
And what about the images that we allow in to our house/lives everyday. You used to only be able to view them in print form, but now you can get them where ever you're at!
What if we each took a few minutes each day (or every few days depending on your schedule) to post something positive on social media. Not something you did, or that you would like to take credit for. Just a random or positive thought you would like to share to brighten someone's day.
You say your posts aren't all that negative, and there is nothing wrong with them? While that may be the case for you, you will never realize how it could affect the hundreds of "friends" that are reading it every day. So take a pause, post a positive thought, and encourage others to do the same!
