Jessica
and her son, Jacob, have been on their own for 6 years. With little
help from anyone, other than her Uncle George, Jessi has raised Jacob
in to the little man he is today. Through a series of events, Jessi
must travel to Santa Cruz to help Uncle George get settled into a new
living arrangement after having spent some time in rehab. The timing
couldn't be better! Jacobs biological father is suddenly calling and
harassing Jessica, demanding to see the see he gave up all those
years ago. With love on the horizon, Jessica hopes with Nick's help
that Uncle George will regain his cheery disposition, and Andrew will
leave her and Jacob alone.

Kyle was a new author for me, and I wasn't sure what to expect from
her. I had put off reading this novel, always gravitating toward
authors I was more familiar with. Finally the time had come, I
needed to read it so I could complete my review. Oh...my...goodness!
What in the world had I been thinking?
The
Heart Stone
is such a touching love story...the love between a man and a woman,
the love between a parent and a child, the love between an uncle and
his niece, and the love between us and God. Wow! To start out with,
this book would make an excellent book club choice, there are so many
discussable topics, the conversations would be limitless!
Kyle
does an excellent job in capturing the relationships between people,
the good and the bad. The realistic emotions of facing a medical
diagnosis are honestly portrayed through Uncle George, and even
through 6year old Jacob. Often times an author may go with what
works best for the story, but Kyle chose to show how a human heart
can harden, losing their once cheery and encouraging disposition.
Fast
paced, and well written, The
Heart Stone
will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride, finally settling
in and leveling out. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and quickly
moved through it in 2 sittings!
