Near Perfect
PROS: Beautifully illustrated; Bible verse on each
page; limited text for little readers
CONS: None
From infant to
adulthood, we follow the growing up years of Daddy's little princess. Through birth, school days, marriage, and
motherhood, we catch a glimpse of the special relationship that develops
between a daughter and her father.
Each page is
beautifully illustrated with vibrant pictures similar to the front cover. Full of color, these illustrations are bound
to fascinate and keep the attention of even the youngest of readers. Down to even the smallest of detail, children
will love exploring the pictures and following along.
With limited
rhyming texts (1-2 sentences) throughout, even a toddler should be able to sit
still long enough for the story. While
the text can be found on the top of the pages, the Bible verses are located on
the bottom of every 2 page spread.
Similar to the story text, the Bible verses mimic what is being told,
lending support and biblical truth along the way. The first page talks about a trumpet being
blown, and sounding the horn when the princess has been born. Likewise, the bible verse that is used can be
found in Numbers 29:1; “It is a day for you to sound the trumpets.”
After my husband
read this book to our twin 8 year old daughters, I asked them for their
thoughts on the book. One expressed her
delight in the pictures, the rhyming text, and her overall enjoyment of the
story. The other liked the full circle
of the story...starting from an infant and following through to the birth of
her own daughter. They both enjoyed the
bible verses throughout, commenting how they went with the story and what was
pictured. They inquired as to whether we
would be purchasing another copy of the book, that way they were each able to
each have one of their own!
Likely to rank
right up there with Love You Forever, this is a story that will be
retold for years to come, making this sentimental Mama wish for the ability to
make time stand still!
**I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review**
