I recently was sent a book to review, and have been anticipating the arrival of it! I was checking the mailbox daily to see if there was a package! The book I was so eagerly awaiting? "Couples Who Pray: The Most Intimate Act Between a Man and a Woman", by SQuire Rushnell and Louise Duart.
It finally arrived. I tore into the package. I completed the initial questionnaire . I started flipping through and scanning the chapters. I was highly disappointed.
Most of the first 3 chapters are about the study done on 2 dozen couples, and about the statistics of the world today regarding marriage. Did I mention that they suggest several different places that you can sign-up online at their website for a small fee to compare your scores with the scores of others (among other "benefits" from their site)? That's what I need...to compare my marriage to someone else's!
Finally, I read through the "40 day" part of the book. It was not very helpful, and they didn't give clear instructions that I couldn't found elsewhere. What had sounded like a great book for my husband and I to do together for the next 40 days had turned in to a big disappointment.
My husband and I will pray together for 40 days, but without the help of the book!
