Stranded - Dani Pettrey

Genre:  Christian Romance
Publisher:  Bethany House
Publication Date:  September 1, 2013
Rating:  5 Out of 5  Excellent

PROS:  Action packed, edge-of-your-seat adventure

CONS:  none

The McKenna's are a tight knit family, a family that plays hard and loves deeply.  Their inner circle has grown some over the years, occasionally taking in a stray or two, those that are needing the love and acceptance of a family.

Darcy has long said goodbye to Gage and his siblings, having left Alaska months ago.  Struggling to find her place without the McKenna's, she fields a phone call from her old investigative partner, Abby.  Abby is on board a cruise ship, and is on to something big!  Darcy agrees to go undercover to see what is going on, only to find her friend missing after she arrives on the boat.

Gage has spent the past few months trying to forget Darcy, she reminds him too much of his ex-wife.  He gladly accepts a new job for his Alaskan Adventure business, only to find out it's on board the very ship Darcy is working undercover.  Can they put their differences aside to find Abby?  How far and deep does this story really go?  With so much going on, they soon find they need to work together if they are going to get to the bottom of her disappearance!

In Stranded, #3 in the Alaskan Courage series,  Pettrey tells the story of Gage McKenna and Darcy with the same quality of writing readers have come to expect from her.  Filled with high octane adventure, sweet/gentle romance, and pure entertainment, Pettrey fans will not be disappointed!

**Spoiler Alert**  In her previous novels in this series, we just began to glimpse the surface of Gage and Darcy's backgrounds before the novels came to an end.  We knew Gage had been previously divorced, and that he was still dealing with the death of his unborn child.  Darcy was hiding something from her past, but we knew even fewer facts about her.  This time however, both of their stories are played out in a soft and gentle way.  Tough and sensitive subject matter that is dealt with in a realistic and convincing way between the couple, at times I almost felt as if I was intruding on their private conversations!

With Gage and Darcy's story having been told, it looks like Kayden may be the next one up in book 4.    Glimpses into her past, and that of Jake's, have lightly been touched upon, but that seems soon to change.  By the end of book 3, we have learned some surprising information about Jake, which has explained some answers to Kayden's many questions!

I am totally, hands down, in love with this family and series!  I have not been this enthralled since the O'Malley series by Dee Henderson!  Pettry does such an excellent job of developing the character of each and every family member, you can't help but want to join in on their journey through life!
